The Harvest

The Harvest

New character time, guys! These two are known collectively as “The Puffs,” and they’ve got a story to tell. In fact, they’ll be a major catalyst in moving the story forward. I’d put off drawing this strip for a long time. About two months, I think.

All this came about, of course, because Robinson ate the cookies from the tree back in strip 25.

  1. Mum says:

It’s a good thing they’re not called “the poufs”! There’s only one pouf around here. :) Do they speak with an accent?

  2. Ian says:

If they do, it’s not shown in print, so you can use whatever accent you like. :) I’ve heard people say they read Flying Man with an English accent – it’s not canon, but hey, if it works.

  3. Stuffgamer1 says:

How much “canon” can you really have in a weird strip like this anyway? :P

  4. Ian says:

Well, maybe a little bit. :D As far as accents go, you can read them however you like, but Flying Man will always have a particular voice in my head (though it’s changed since I started doing the strip – now it’s more like the neutral voice I read book dialog in).

  5. Mum says:

    Dad approves!

  6. Ian says:

Heh, then we’re good to go. :)

  7. Earlz... says:

This is awesome. lol. I can’t think of the voice that the puffs remind me of but it’s definitely an England accent

  8. Xiegfried says:

I’ve always imagined Flying Man with a deeper, upbeat voice, with a formal tone to it. The Puffs seem like they’re from France and England, respectively, based upon the hats. Perhaps gentle, child-like voices?

  9. Earlz... says:

@xiegfried: Yes! Exactly! France and England is what I’m thinking. Idk about flying man he just seems to come off as a more normal tone, but more up beat and yes slightly formal..

Maybe one day Ian will make a video of them with voice for a change of pace :) lol

  10. TIE GUY says:

Woohoo! unexpected new characters! way to go!

  11. Ian says:

Heh, I don’t know about making a video – I’m not exactly the “man of a 1000 voices” – it wouldn’t be nearly as interesting as what you hear in your head!

But the puffs are definitely an important part of the story. In fact, you’ll see them again next Friday, I believe. Things will happen.

  12. Xiegfried says:

Yes, a video would be fantastic! Perhaps with plush toys of the characters? Only time will tell, but I’m already a supporter of the idea!

  13. Earlz... says:

If I could get a plush Flying Man that would be hardcore lol.

I just realized that Christmas is on a Friday. You know what that means!? Santa is going to leave us a new Flying Man comic in our Stockings! er, RSS Feeds! Woo!

  14. sploder dude says:

hahahahah this was posted the day I made a website!

  15. Ian says:

I will definitely be doing a Christmas strip, just so you all know.

And what kind of website are you doing, Sploder?

  16. Master Dylly (DSI) says:

  17. Master Dylly (DSI) says:

  18. blackdragon465 says:

    Awesome new characters!
    Is the cookie tree glowing?

  19. Ian says:

Maybe a little bit. :D It helped it stand out more from the background.

  20. sploder dude says:

robinson didnt know it was the puffballs coockie tree!

  21. Ian says:

Haha, I seriously read that as “coochie tree.”

  22. sploder dude says:

there is also dookie pookie fookie snookie and gookie

  23. mrgameandpie says:

I read these guys with a french accent, and Flying Man with an English one. I hear Robinson as a mouse, and in the one comic that Mr. Stinky “made” I heard his voice as… just plain creepy. When I first read this comic I thought that was an apple tree from the last comic. I never realized it was the cookie tree until you put the updated characters page.

  24. Ian says:

    But apples don’t have spots!

  25. Ian says:

I approve of your voice selection, though. :D
